For more than 50 years, founder Jon Coulthurst has specialized in residential design, creating custom homes, renovations, additions, ADUs, and permit-ready plans across Sarasota and Southwest Florida.

Education

We know the complexities of Sarasota geography: flood lines, coastal setbacks, topography, FEMA requirements, and HOA rules. Before we design, we confirm your home can actually be built.

The firm combines decades of residential design knowledge with advanced technology, including 3D modeling, photorealistic renderings, Matterport scanning, as-built documentation, drone footage when needed, and virtual walkthroughs that help clients see and understand their projects before construction begins.

One of our greatest strengths is extensive knowledge of Florida residential building codes, local zoning regulations, and permitting requirements. We also work closely with a trusted network of structural engineers, civil engineers, surveyors, and contractors to help coordinate projects from concept through permitting.

Founder & Principal Residential Designer

Jon Coulthurst is the founder and principal residential designer of JC Drafting & Design, Inc. Originally from Wisconsin and a Sarasota resident for more than 40 years, Jon brings over 50 years of residential design experience to custom homes, renovations, additions, ADUs, accessory buildings, and permit-ready plans. His deep knowledge of design, construction, code, zoning, and permitting helps clients move confidently from vision to buildable plans.

Justin Coulthurst

Residential Designer & Project Development

Justin Coulthurst is a residential designer at JC Drafting & Design, Inc., where he combines nearly 15 years in the family business with advanced visualization technology and strong local knowledge of Florida design, zoning, and building requirements. His work includes custom homes, additions, renovations, ADUs, permit plans, Matterport scanning, 3D modeling, and immersive walkthroughs.

Logan Troyer

Residential Designer & 3D Visualization Specialist

Logan Troyer is a residential designer and 3D visualization specialist at JC Drafting & Design, Inc. Fluent in 3D modeling and design software, Logan creates detailed digital models and supports permit-ready residential design. He also handles the firm’s as-built documentation and Matterport scanning, helping capture accurate existing conditions for renovations, additions, remodels, and custom residential projects.
